The Super Derby is open to three-year-old children, 1 1/8 miles from the dust. Currently a third-level event, it is the richest game in Downs, Louisiana. In its history, the Super Derby has attracted some of the country's top horses, including the winners of all three American classics.
The Super German competition was a first-class competition from 1983 to 2001. In 2002, it was downgraded to Level 2, and in 2016 it was reclassified to Level 3. It originally operated at the American Classical Distance of 1 1/4 mile, but has been operating at 1 1/8 mile since 2002 (except when the distance is restored to 1 1/4 mile in 2005).
